We believe in the health and wellness fresh produce brings, that we need more of it in our lives, more access to it, and that our work in accomplishing this is important!
Christmas is a time of year where we reflect on the things that are important to us… family, friends, faith, and of course food! And many times, we see the word belief, but what if we take a second to think about what we believe as people who work in produce and the values that drive us in our day-to-day work?
Here’s a few of our beliefs about produce and what motivates us– because there is a big picture and purpose beyond the routine transactions of buying, selling, and moving produce. For the Fresh Avenue Team in particular, we want to create ways of giving more access to produce for growers, buyers, and consumers so that we are putting more produce on more plates. Fresh produce contributes to a life of health and wellness, and that is something we desperately need in our food systems.
- We believe that produce is the healthiest food out there, one that you can eat without guilt or worry, because it provides the nutrients and fiber we need for health and wellness.
- We believe that we don’t eat enough fresh produce. There are many reasons for that including the allure of junk foods, supply chain constraints, and not knowing how to fill our lives and plates with produce. We want to solve that!
- We believe that there needs to be more accessibility and affordability of fresh produce to consumers, that fresh food is a proactive way to mitigate the many health issues we are facing.
- We believe we can solve some of these issues by optimizing the fresh supply chain. This is why we have built a business around solving the pain points in the produce supply chain, all the way from the field to fork.
- We believe in the large growers, midsize producers, and the local farmer. All have a place in the supply chain, and we have made it our mission to find logistics and marketplace solutions to anyone who chooses to grow produce.
- We believe that all our work in produce is important, and as such we work with responsiveness and speed, because produce doesn’t wait, and the best produce is enjoyed at its peak freshness.
