FAQ
About Produce from Green Light Fresh
What type of produce does Fresh Avenue offer?
Fresh Avenue is a grower/shipper of a wide variety of items that we pack in our own Green Light label. These items include cilantro, Italian parsley, curly parsley, green onions, spinach, napa cabbage, bok choy, kale, endive, escarole, leeks, radishes, and more.
In addition, with our extensive grower base and our experienced team, we can source much more from any of the western growing regions: leafy greens from Salinas and Santa Maria, citrus from the San Joaquin Valley, carrots from Bakersfield, apples and pears from Washington, and grapes from Fresno. We can source it for you!
What growing regions does Fresh Avenue grow in?
Our primary growing regions are Salinas, California, and Yuma, Arizona, with green onions grown in Mexico. We also source produce from many growing regions, so we are not limited in where we grow, source, and load.
What is Green Light?
What if I need produce items that Fresh Avenue doesn't grow through GreenLight?
Items unavailable through the Green Light label are easily sourced through our expansive grower network by our purchasing team. This includes key growers throughout the United States including leafy greens, cabbage, tender greens, citrus, berries, stone fruit, apples, tomatoes, grapes, carrots, and more.
How do you ensure the freshness and quality of your produce?
Fresh Avenue ensures product quality by consistently having key personnel present in the fields and warehouse to monitor it. We closely follow food safety regulations and practices throughout the supply chain, adhering to government regulations like FSMA. This is followed up by monitoring produce safety, quality, and specifications in the field and coolers before shipment. Consistent temperature regulation is critical in ensuring product quality in shipping, so our team monitors that with temperature sensors.
Is Fresh Avenue part of any trade associations?
Yes, Fresh Avenue is a member of the following:
- International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA), attends IFPA conferences and is involved in different IFPA leadership such as the marketing council.
- Southeast Produce Council (SEPC), attends SEPC conferences and is involved with SEPC leadership such as the STEP-UPP program.
